Definition : Serology reagents intended to detect antibody titers or antigens of Streptococcus pneumoniae (also known as pneumococcus) bacteria. These bacteria are the most common cause of lobar pneumonia; they can also cause other serious diseases (e.g., meningitis, septicemia, peritonitis).
