Definition : Equipment designed to remove moisture, either in liquid or vapor state, from devices, films, fabrics, objects, and/or gases using a physical procedure (e.g., heat, centrifugal force, refrigeration, forced air, filtration), and/or natural convection or with the exclusive use of chemical desiccating products. Dedicated dryers are used in healthcare facilities to dry labware, laboratory slides and gels, laundry, small devices and/or utensils, forensic evidence, and x-ray films; they are also used to dry the air in medical air systems.
