Definition : Evoked potential graphic recorders that record a potential that originates in the auditory pathway of the brain in response to acoustic stimuli (e.g., clicks delivered through an earphone). These potentials are usually recorded from an electrode placed on the scalp at the vertex, with a reference electrode on the earlobe. The resultant waveform may be used to assess the function of the auditory pathways and to differentiate coma due to metabolic factors from structural damage.
