Sutures, Metallic, Stainless Steel, Monofilament

Definition : Stainless steel sutures made of single filaments (i.e., monofilament) medical-grade stainless steel alloys. These sutures are typically available in sterile, uncoated thread sections (e.g., 18, 30 in [45, 76 cm] long) that may be attached to a single-use needle as an integral device. Monofilament stainless steel sutures keep their tensile strength for very long periods of time and are not absorbed by tissues; their intended use includes orthopedic procedures including cerclage, tendon and hernia repair, sternum closure (after sternotomy), and abdominal wound closure.
