Water Purification Filters, Charcoal

Definition : Water purification systems designed to remove charged particles (i.e., eliminate both cations and anions such as salts and metal ions) using deionization procedures. These systems consist of one or more containers (known as resin beds) that contain appropriate resins beads (both cationic and anionic) for the deionization procedure. There are systems using a mixed-bed, containing both cationic and anionic resins in a single vessel, and dual-bed systems, where each resin type is in a separate vessel. For most medical uses, including hemodialysis, mixed-bed systems should be used. Deionizers are frequently used after a reverse osmosis when ionic contamination is such that reverse osmosis (RO) alone cannot produce water of acceptable quality. Dedicated deionization systems used in hemodialysis procedures, both stand-alone and portable, are also available.

Integrated Biomedical Technology

Company Type: Parent

Integrated Biomedical Technology, Inc. was established in1992 as a consulting company assisting other companies in developing dry chemistry test systems. In 1995, we realized that in the fast paced operation of hemodialysis there is a need of simple, fast and easy-to-use tests and began to develop reagent strips for use in dialysis clinics and hospitals. In 1997, the first multi-functional test for chlorine/bleach and peroxide was introduced. Since then, a panel of dialysis specialty test strips has been introduced, many of which are uniquely designed, one of a kind tests. These highly advanced, innovative test systems redefine and set new standards in the way testing is done in dialysis.
