Definition : Electronic data storage recorders that use a high-speed analog-to-digital converter to capture and hold the digital equivalent of an analog signal. These recorders have the ability to record the signal preceding the trigger point by having the unit recording continuously, using the trigger to stop the recording process and freeze the data in memory. The recorded information can be output from memory in analog or digital form and can be displayed on any analog device (e.g., oscilloscope, graph recorder).
