Socks or stockings are typically knit as stretchy fabric tubes open at the leg end and closed at the toe end for ease in fit; they can be washed and reused. They are made from natural plant fibers such as cotton, bamboo, linen; animal fibers such as wool, silk, cashmere, or mohair; or synthetic fibers such as nylon, acrylic, polyester, olefins, or spandex; or a combination of two or more of these fibers.
