Osteotomes

Definition : Surgical instruments designed to cut and/or shape bone. These devices are typically handheld chisel-like instruments with a sharp distal end that is often beveled on both sides; they are usually stronger than surgical chisels. Dedicated osteotomes are available for several orthopedic, plastic (e.g., nasal), spinal, and oral surgery procedures; they are also used in dentistry.
