Wheelchair Ramps, Portable

Definition : Wheelchair ramps that are designed to be portable and that can be folded and moved to other locations, or reconfigured, as needed. Portable ramps can be used inside or outside of buildings or with vehicles, such as vans or automobiles, to facilitate access for wheelchairs and their occupants. Wheelchair ramps are usually constructed with standardized minimum widths, maximum slopes, maximum lengths, weight-bearing capacity; the longer the ramp, the lesser the slope should be. Wheelchair ramps are usually made of aluminum, concrete, galvanized steel, or wood, and have non-skid surfaces. Some ramps include hand rails. Some portable ramps can be powered by being connected to the vehicle's electrical system.
