Definition : Osteotomes designed to cut and/or shape bone during orthopedic procedures. These osteotomes are typically heavy, strong, handheld chisel-like instruments with a sharp distal end (either straight or curved) that is often beveled on both sides. Dedicated osteotomes with appropriate shapes are available for specific orthopedic procedures, including prosthetic procedures involving femoral and tibial cutting.
