Definition : Clinical chemistry reagents intended to perform qualitative and/or quantitative chemical analysis of body fluids (typically serum or plasma) to determine levels of zinc. Low levels of zinc in blood are associated with growth retardation in children and adolescents, mild dermatitis, delayed wound healing, mental lethargy, alopecia, and diarrhea. Zinc deficiency is also associated with genetic disorders such as acrodermatitis enteropathica and inherited sickle cell anemia.
