Footstools, Conductive

Definition : Footstools designed to provide good electrical conductivity from the foot-supporting platform to the floor. These footstools typically consist of a platform covered with a conductive material (e.g., conductive rubber) that is mounted on a low, tubular structure (typically 20 to 30 cm [8 to 12 inches] tall); the conductive material usually covers also the footstool leg tips. Conductive footstools are used on conductive surfaces of operating rooms to avoid accumulation of electrostatic charge on patients and/or healthcare staff, minimizing the risk of electric shock.
