Endoscopic Obturators

Definition : Devices inserted into blood vessels or other body cavities through trocars, endoscopes, cannula, or other introducers, and that are intended to provide stiffening, support, or occlusion to the indwelling sheaths or instruments (such as colonoscopes, cystoscopies, arthroscopes, or laparoscopes) being introduced into the body. Endoscopic obturators include integrated stability sleeves to allow for dilated entry sites after removal of introducer sleeves.
