Auxiliary Displays, Touchscreen

Definition : Auxiliary displays designed to allow manipulation of the screen's display when the user touches different icons on the screen with the finger or with a stylus. These devices typically consist of an electronic (e.g., liquid crystal, cathode ray tube) screen with electronic circuitry appropriate to display the information that is supplied to the screen via interfaced computer systems and dedicated software programs that are located remotely from the screen. Auxiliary touchscreen displays come in various sizes and can be mounted to the wall or ceiling or can stand on a cart or table. Auxiliary touchscreen displays may be intended for display of information for the general public and/or the staff in healthcare facilities where they may be interfaced with other computerized hospital information systems (e.g. operating room automation systems, radiology information systems, computerized medical records systems). Some displays permit limited or complete interaction with the system by the user.
